Iran Announces Opening of Strait of Hormuz for 2 Weeks

Following the US President’s announcement of a ceasefire, Iran has also made significant progress by announcing the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to all countries for two weeks.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in a statement approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is taking serious steps to de-escalate tensions in the region. He expressed special gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying that both leaders played a full and sincere role in ending the war.

According to Abbas Araqchi, Iran has accepted the US request for negotiations in light of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s appeal and 15-point proposals, while US President Donald Trump has also agreed in principle to the framework of Iran’s 10-point proposals.

He made it clear that if attacks on Iran were completely stopped, Iranian forces would also cease their defensive operations.

The Foreign Minister further said that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be provided for two weeks, however, during this time it will be necessary to take into account certain technical conditions and safety measures.
