PSL-11 in Karachi Over 5,000 Security Personnel on Duty
A comprehensive security plan has been finalized for the Pakistan Super League (PSL-11) matches to be held at the National Bank Stadium and more than 5,000 police and security personnel will be deployed.
The important security coordination meeting held at SSU Headquarters was chaired by DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed. The meeting reiterated the commitment to provide foolproof security for teams, officials and spectators and directed all concerned officers to utilize all available resources for the peaceful and successful conduct of the event.
The meeting decided that more than 5,000 personnel would be deployed for security arrangements, including 2,000 Security Division personnel (1,000 SSU commandos and lady commandos), 1,020 traffic police personnel, 328 Special Branch personnel, district police and other law enforcement agencies.
The personnel will perform duties at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi Airport, routes, hotels, practice grounds and other important locations, while sharpshooters will also be deployed at sensitive locations.
The Special Weapons and Tactics Team will remain on alert at the SSU headquarters and will patrol the stadium perimeter as a quick response force to deal with any emergency. The use of drones has been strictly prohibited in and around the stadium.
During the matches, the traffic management plan will ensure smooth flow of routes and the stadium and its surroundings will be monitored through CCTV cameras. A special SSU command and control bus will also be deployed at the stadium to keep a close watch on the law and order situation.
