20-year housing programme launched for urban poor citizens
Pakistan is undergoing a significant housing crisis. In the recent past, in priority one, the government has proposed a long-term housing project to make affordable houses available for easy installments with government financing for the poor and homeless. This scheme consists of 20 papers.
Those people who do not own a house can avail loans up to PKR 1 crore from the Ehsas Ration for the construction of any house. The program will boost housing access manifold while further aiding the construction sector and the economy as a whole.
Details of The Loan Structure.
The scheme offers an easier financing facility especially to low income families. Markup rate will initially be 5% for first 10 years for borrowers.
To ease the financial burden and attract more applicants, officials have implemented the subsidized fee. The extended loan duration facilitates smaller monthly payments which are more affordable.
Size of property and eligibility.
According to the initial details, the housing units under the scheme will include areas of still 10-marla which will be suitable for a small and medium-sized family.
The approach aims to focus on persons who are homeless and economically weaker sections so that the ones in maximum need of housing get preference. The process and criteria for submitting an application will soon be published.
Aim of Government: 5 lakh housing by 2021.
The government has also set a target of constructing 5 lakh houses during the next four years as part of the larger vision.
